हिन्दी में लिखें, जीमेल में Write in Hindi in gmail. These instructions apply to any major Indian language, just replace Hindi by the language you want, for example, Bengali.
- Open an account in gmail, if you don't have it.
- Log in/Sign up in your gmail account.
- Click on the symbol in the menu seen at the top right corner
and choose the Settings.
- In the option Gmail display language you have your native language as default,
but you can change it to the language of your choice. It need not be Hindi in order to write in Hindi.
- In the Language section mark Enable input tools.
- Go back to the main page. Open the Select input tool, it looks like a keypad (or a typewriter),
it is next to the Settings on the left side. Choose further Input Tools Settings.
You will notice that the Input Tools is On.
- You will see two columns in the Input Tools, the left column has All input tools.
There you will see Hindi, you might need to scroll down a bit. And in the right column you have the
Selected Input Tools. You probably have some default selections there.
If Hindi is missing in the right column (Selected Input Tools), then choose Hindi (inscript) in the left column and
move it to the right column by pressing the => arrow. Similarly move the Hindi देवनागरी फोनेटिक
into your Selected Input Tools. Click OK to leave the
Input Tools Settings and to save your choices.
- Finally to compose a letter in Hindi, go to the Inbox and click on Compose. And now you have following two ways
to compose your mail in Hindi. Choose either देवनागरी फोनेटिक
or Hindi (inscript) from the Input tools. In devnagri phonetic
you get the English keyboard and you write Hindi using Englsh letters, like namaste, kya haal hai aapka.
The tool will convert it to Hindi. If you prefer Hindi keyboard then choose
Hindi (inscript). This is recommended. Although, there are many letters and symbols, so you will need some practice. You will need to press shift or other keys in order to get other letters.
- Now, what if you want to write a word or a phrase in English in your otherwise Hindi letter? No problem, just close the Input tools (by clicking on the cross in the top right corner) and
then come back to the Text area where you were writing. You need to activate the text area by clicking on it. Now you can write in English and to go back to Hindi, open the Input tools again as before.
